About Me

I love everything science and biology. Within the realm of biology, my greatest scientific interests are ornithology, ecology, evolutionary biology, marine biology, and conservation biology (in no particular order).

I graduated from UNC Wilmington with a B.Sc. in Marine Biology (and a minor in Psychology). I am in love with and completely taken by the oceans – their influence on the planet, their mysteries, the varied habitats from pole to pole, as well as the many conservation issues surrounding them. Within the oceans are some of the most under-protected ecosystems on the planet, and I would like to see more people aware of ocean conservation issues.

Ornithology is also a driving passion of mine – I have been an avid birder for over a decade, across different countries and habitats. Birds fascinate me for their astonishing diversity across the earth – incredible species from hornbills and penguins, to hummingbirds and vultures. Avian behavior, evolutionary history, ecology, and migration patterns are fascinating to no end.

I am looking forward to applying to graduate school in the next few years to advance my education to a Master’s, and eventually a PhD so that I can conduct biological research and advance our knowledge of the natural world. In the meantime, though, and while I figure things out, I am gaining field research experience through a variety of other people’s research projects – this will help shape my own future.

And I love to travel the world, and have been fortunate enough to have been partially raised in another country – Poland, my mother’s home land. Ever since I was 3 years old, I spent every single summer there exploring Poland and Europe. And of course I absolutely loved it –  Poland is my other home, and I miss it dearly while in the US. I speak Polish fluently, and some of my best friends and family are in Poland.

To me, there is nothing better than experiencing new countries, new cultures, and new nature! We live on a beautiful planet.

Beyond biology and science, I have a variety of interests and love learning about pretty much anything and everything. Open-mindedness is key 🙂
